Your Diaper Bag Checklist
The diaper bag is a signature piece in the parenthood collection. Whether you met your newborn at 5 pounds, 7 ounces or 8 pounds, 10 ounces, babies all have one thing in common: they require a lot of stuff.
Luckily parents have approximately 40 weeks to plan for their newborn’s arrival and can use this time to gather all the essentials to welcome their baby home with confidence. Our ‘bag of tricks’ below will give you peace of mind knowing you have everything you need when venturing out with your baby for the inevitable errands, appointments and everything in between.
The Bag. While aesthetic is important, functionality should be top priority. Look for exterior zippers, side pockets and a roomy interior with sectioned compartments. Multiple storage options will help you keep organized and provide easy access when you have an extra arm free.
Diapers.Mother Nature waits for noone. Ensure you pack enough diapers for a few changes – just in case.
Changing Pad. Look for a foldable changing pad that you can easily store and access wherever you are. You can also substitute for a blanket or towel if preferred.
Cream/Ointment. Babies are no strangers to diaper rash. Be sure to keep cream/ointment on hand to soothe your baby’s bottom.
Wipes. They are not only great for diaper changes, but also cleaning dirty surfaces and hands.
Nursing Cover and/or Bottle. Whether you’re breastfeeding or bottle-feeding with infant formula/breast milk, pack accordingly for the duration of your outing.
Burping Cloth.To spare you and your baby’s wardrobe during nap and feeding cycles.
Change of Clothes. Anything can happen. Keep an extra outfit and shirt on hand for baby and parent in case of spit-up, drool and blow-outs.
Pacifier. If your baby uses a pacifier, pack one or two extras and store in a separate storage bag to ensure cleanliness.
Toys.Pack a favorite compact toy that can double for distraction and teething purposes.
Water & Snacks.You never know when you’ll need an extra boost of energy. Taking care of you and your baby can be exhausting!
Hand Sanitizer.Keep portable sanitizer on hand to prevent the spread of germs and use after diaper changes.
